Health Composite: Miles Better than the Position of our Frontbench
This year’s Health motion is a hard-won victory for the Left. The composite proposed by the frontbench and party hierarchy did not even mention – let alone oppose – privatisation and the Tories’ Health and Care Act.
By contrast, the agreed composite commits Labour to:
●returning all privatised parts of the NHS to public hands upon winning government;
●ending the use of outsourcing, public-private partnerships, and private finance; and repealing the Health and Care Act and eliminating Integrated Care Systems.
The motion also commits Labour to not accepting donations from companies interested in outsourcing NHS functions. Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting has received a £15,000 donation from the manager of a hedge fund with investments in private provider UnitedHealth.
Please vote to support the composite and then work to hold the PLP to account!
