DAVID EVANS HAS FORM
Under Blair, Evans was an Assistant General Secretary of the Party and in 1999 outlined a set of proposals to reduce the role and influence of Party activists. He wanted the membership’s influence over policy making to be minimised. Evans also proposed that CLP General Committees be scrapped, be replaced by “working executives” elected at all member meetings, with no Branch delegates reporting back to their ward parties. All in all members’ activities would be hollowed out. Members would dutifully pay their subscriptions and not be heard. CLPD went on the defensive against the Evans’ proposals: “They seek to remove all intermediate structures in the Party, so that we are left with a passive, powerless membership and an all powerful leadership”.
RACHEL COUNTERS SUSPICIONS ABOUT HOW LABOUR SHE IS
“I do care about inequality. I do want to have a more cohesive society”.

FOCUS ON THE FARCE CALLED “THE UPPER HOUSE”
*15 of the last 16 Tory Treasurers have been appointed to the House of Lords, all of whom have donated at least £3m to the Tories.
*Since Johnson became Prime Minister, about 100 new life peers have been appointed, taking the total membership of The Lords to about 800 – making it even larger than the European Parliament.
*Church of England bishops have the right to sit in The Lords, thus making Parliament a defacto theocracy.
The other state legislature with its religious leaders having seats is Iran.
WHICH SLOGAN DO YOU PREFER?
